QR National Scholarship Program
About
The QR National Scholarship Program will provide 10 Scholarships for the 2012 school year to disadvantaged youths in Central Queensland. The QR National Scholarship Program is an initiative of the CQ NRL Bid and has been set up to provide holistic support to disadvantaged youths to pursue their sporting and academic endeavours. Disadvantage can relate to socio-economic status of the family, isolation of hometown, indigenous (Closing the Gap) and a raft of other reasons that prevent the young person from being afforded opportunities that would otherwise be available to non-disadvantaged youths in their age group. The QR National Scholarship Program provides assistance to youths in the following capacities:
FINANCIAL SUPPORT : assistance with payment of school fees and representative football costs. Up to $5,000 per Scholarship Holder per year.
PLAYER WELFARE SUPPORT : scholarship recipients will receive player welfare training that will deal with the contemporary issues of being a young, aspiring elite rugby league player
MENTORING SUPPORT : scholarship recipients will receive a former NRL player to serve as their mentor providing guidance and advice via email, phone and face-to-face contact
